Veritas Party Demands explanation from Electoral Commission for omitting VERITAS from aboutmyvote.co.uk
Veritas Officials will be demanding a public apoligy and explanation from the boss of the Electoral Commission after discovering today that the Commission's new website: "aboutmyvote.co.uk" mentions all the other major and minor political parties contesting the General Election but fails to list VERITAS. When one inputs a postcode from anywhere in the country, one is connected to the page: " Parties and candidates." Every other political party is listed, in alphabetical order, but not VERITAS.Harry Cichy, VERITAS Press Officer for the Eastern region, discovered the omission early Sunday, but was unable to speak to anyone at the Electoral Commission because they are closed. He said: " It's a farce. You click on "B" and get British National Party, you click on "M" and get the Monster Raving Loony Party - but you click on "V" and get something called " Vote for Yourself Rainbow Coalition." There is no mention of VERITAS. It seems the Commission are blanking us.
We have been registered with the Electoral Commission since January, so it's not as if they don't know about us. I thought the Commission was supposed to be impartial and fair to all the parties in this election."VERITAS formally complained to the BBC last week when it launched its election coverage on its BBCi website without a link to the VERITAS website. A link was eventually added after representation by party officials.VERITAS said on Thursday that it currentley hopes to field 79 candidates across the United Kingdom.
